Matt Moffett
For the past 20+ years, I've been working professionally in the action sports industry. As a professional skateboarder, brand and team manager, contest judge for X-games and World Cup of Skateboarding and a social media manager and video producer. I’ve seen the growth and progression of the industry and, I’m looking forward to being a positive ambassador of the action sports culture and mission within the Charlottesville VA, community.
My first supervisory position came from working at the Mission Valley skatepark, in San Diego CA. There I was responsible for the supervision and management of day to day operations which included, education and instruction of proper skatepark etiquette and rules, maintenance of equipment, and ensuring safety standards were met.
As a manager of branding, supervisor of operations, budget, and production at Randoms Hardware, I managed professional and administrative work, acted as creative director for both communications and marketing. As the team manager, I oversaw the planning and scheduling of special events, along with personnel and program development.
Digital Manager at Digital Actions Sports Network website Skateboard.tv, I gained valuable experience in the many facets of digital production, asset management, and marketing strategies. These include web content development, social media networking and best practices, design, and development of marketing publications, as well as digital branding. I coordinated events, including various photography and videography productions, met with clients to discuss market strategies and content development, and was the main video editor and social media strategist for DASN.
Most recently I had the opportunity to run my own business as a pedicab owner and operator in San Diego. I managed employees, coordinated all administrative paperwork pertaining to my business, such as all city certifications, insurance, permits, and licenses. I worked closely with the public, city officials, and police department, to maintain a safe and collegial working relationship for all.
Skateboarding has had such an enormous and positive impact on my life. The relationships I have formed, the experiences I’ve shared, and the hurdles I’ve overcome, are largely due to skateboarding.
